Tell All Tuesday

This Tuesday it's getting set for back to school. So what's a wish, goal and dream I have for this school year? Keep reading to find out.

Okay so I feel like that first year of teaching you can feel happy when you cover the basics and go a little over and beyond with your lessons but obviously after that first year you are really able to look back and make some BIG improvements. Well obviously this past year was not my first year teaching kinder but it was my 1st year teaching full day kindergarten in Canada on Mondays, Wednesdays & every other Friday. Since it was such a big change from teaching in the States Monday-Friday full day kindergarten, I had to really pick and choose what I taught from what I usually teach to try and fit it all in. By the end of the year I really noticed that I needed to incorporate more science experiments and that is one of my goals this year. Incorporating more science isn't my only goal though. Like Diana mentioned... Math is my least favorite thing to teach and I really want to get better at teaching it and work on building better math centers.

I love every child that I have ever taught. They hold a special place in my heart and I know that I will love this new group of kiddos. I really hope that every child will feel that love and feel confident through out the school year, a especially when they leave me at the end of the year.

I have been anxious at the thought of juggling being a mom this year plus teaching two different grades (kinder & grade 2). I know kinder will be a breeze because I have taught it for a few years but grade 2 is a bad new ballgame for me. My sweet friend Amanda over at Mrs. Pauley's Kindergarten sent me an email giving me some great advice on how to find a balance. She is pretty amazing I might add. :)

Tell All Tuesday: My Dream Classroom

I am joining Teach Talk Inspire and My Day in K for another Tell All Tuesday. This week it's about your dream classroom. Of course I turn to the place where my life is most organized, my Pinterest board. I just assume that everyone else has the same problem as I do... and that's that we all have our classroom, home and everything else in our lives magically organized through their Pinterest with a long list of admiration and wishes.

 Duh... I am totally turning to my Classroom Decor & Organization Pinterest board for this one. Don't we all? I know I am not alone on this one. ;)

I will start off with the fact that I am sharing BOTH of my classrooms this year with another teacher Yeah, you heard me right. I have 2 classrooms. How does that work you ask? Well since here in Alberta, Canada or where I teach anyways kindergarten does not come to school every day all day like they do in the States. My kinders will come Monday, Wednesday & every other Friday. I taught this schedule last year. So that means that on Tuesdays, Thursday, & every other Friday that my class is not there that another teacher will be teaching kindergarten to a different set of kinders. Got it? Therefore I do not get 100% say on how I would love love love to decorate the classroom (insert sad face). Last year I had to do this for the 1st time and it was a real struggle for me. I like to be in control and do things my way. Now for my 2nd classroom situation... On the Tuesdays & Thursdays that I am off from teaching kindergarten I will be teaching grade 2. The other teacher who taught grade 2 full time last year wanted to work part time so that she could spend more time with her youngest son before he starts elementary school so I am basically coming into her classroom to teach Tuesdays & Thursdays. There ya go... now you know why I have 2 classrooms. In all honesty, while I LOVE to be in control & decorate my classroom with everything super matchy matchy and organized since I have my daughter that is not my biggest concern this year. I just want to survive my 1st year of juggling the whole mommy/teacher thing. I am letting the other teachers take the decorating reigns for the most part.

So if I could have total control of my classroom this year and I didn't have to share this is a taste of what it (or they) would look like.

I have done the jungle theme and ocean theme. This year I would love to go all out with a garden/bug theme. I am going to use a garden/bug theme with things like the students' name plates, name tags, cubby labels, etc. I would <3 to have a reading area set up with a green carpet & white fence. I know I have a photo some where on my Pinterest of Deanna Jump's old classroom set up with a white fence but I can't find it. 

I also think it would be fun to have a tree painted on the wall with 3D branches and leaves. Unfortunately we are not allowed to paint the walls at the school I am at now. 

I like how open this classroom is. It reminds me of my room. Oh and that it has tables. I love using tables.

I have been wanting this IKEA bookshelf to turn into a reading bench for 2 years now. I love the modern feel of this classroom and this amazing rug.

I just love everything about this classroom. The amazing rug, bright colors, how open and clean this room looks are all things that I have to have in a classroom.

Tell All Tuesday

Do you ever wish that moments of your life could be captured on a T.V. show and if so would people think you were totally crazy? I am linking up with Teach Talk Inspire & My Day in K for a Tell All Tuesday.

 I like watching reality shows, especially in the summer. I grew up watching MTV's Real World and Road Rules. Anyone else remember Road Rules?  

 Picking a name was really hard and I am still not sure this suits me a 100% but for someone who is super indecisive, it's good enough. lol

 

To be honest, sometimes I feel like a hot mess. I can be so scattered brain, random things come out of my mouth and sometimes I think to myself- "Did that just happen?". If you were to tune in to my show you would most likely be entertained by the random things that come out of my mouth. Sometimes the things I say make sense, but not always. I am very honest though things usually come off the wrong way. I need a filter. lol. You would also be entertained by my hubby's random and crazy dance moves. They are hilarious! He thinks he's being funny and smooth but really he looks like the most uncoordinated white boy dancing. It cracks me up. We do love to jam out to the latest rap hits so maybe that gives him the extra courage to make him think he has rhythm.  In this reality show we would have the "awe" factor with my 10 month old baby girl who loves to play fetch with our pups, especially my long-haired daschund. Lately my little girl has been teething so she is super snotty, but why wipe your nose when you can stick your face in front of the dog to have it licked off. You read that right. It's so funny. My baby girl leans in front of my daschund to have her face licked and then has a giggle fit because she thinks it is so funny. If the directors and camera peeps want to really get things going all they have to do is give me a glass of wine and the hubby some beer. I have been nursing my wee one for the past 10 months & am weaning her... what's my point? Well I have become such a light weight since and I can break out the dance moves and talk vulgar once the juices get flowing. ha ha ha. If the cameras were to follow me to my classroom then you may just see one of my Canadian students pronounce the word Can as Caaaan (in a very southern accent) after being in my class a few weeks. True story. This happened last year.

I literally had a student correct her mother and said "That's not how you say the word Momma. It's caaaaan (very southern accent)." I then had to explain to the student that since I am originally from the southern United States that I talk funny and that she did not have to pronounce the words exactly like I do. I will also add that the student was a principal's daughter. (insert emoji of monkey covering face with hands!!!)

Well that's just a small glimpse into our lives and to be honest, our show would probably only be funny in our eyes. ha ha ha. Everyone else would be like - "Was that real life?".
